Gregory Halpern grew up in Buffalo, New York. He makes most of his photographs there. He has a BA in History and Literature from Harvard University and an MFA from California College of the Arts. He recently published Omaha Sketchbook, a limited-edition book of 30 copies, with J&L Books. It was voted one of the top ten photobooks of the year on Photo-Eye. Copies are still available directly through J&L Books. A book of his new work will be published by These Birds Walk Books in 2010. He currently lives in Rochester, New York where he teaches Photography at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
